New York Independent Insurance Agencies Lead ‘Best Practices’ Field

12 New York agencies recognized by national trade association

(DeWitt, New York, Sept. 11, 2013) — Twelve independent insurance agencies in New York State have been recognized as among the top performing agencies in the country. All 12 are members of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of New York (IIABNY), the state’s oldest insurance producer trade association.

“We could not be prouder of these agencies,” said IIABNY Chair of the Board Andrew Kaufman. “These agencies are fine examples of the professionalism of insurance producers typical in the State of New York. I congratulate each of them and encourage all other agencies to emulate them.”

The annual Best Practices Study originated in 1993 as a way for the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (IIABA) to provide member agents with meaningful performance benchmarks and business strategies that could be adopted or adapted for use in improving agency performance. Conducted by the IIABA and Atlanta-based Reagan Consulting, the study examines the leading agencies and brokers in the country on a variety of measures. The annual updates provide important financial and operational benchmarks. The study is recognized as one of the most thoughtful, effective and valuable resources ever made available to the industry.

Participating agencies from throughout the country are nominated by the insurance companies that work with them and by state producer associations. Those nominated agencies that choose to participate must submit detailed financial and operational information for evaluation and ranking. The top performing agencies in six revenue categories are included in the study and designated “Best Practices Agencies.”
