We Want Your Ideas and Suggestions for the 2018 Annual E&O Seminars

Around this time every year, we ask Big I NY members to provide us any issues, topics, or suggestions they may want us to consider when we develop the outline for annual E&O Loss Control Seminars. Although the 2018 annual E&O seminars are still over 6 months away, we prepare the seminar outline for annual seminars every December. This timeframe allows for sufficient time to develop the outline and then have it submitted approved by the New York Department of Financial Services, and also to make any videos we may use in conjunction with the seminars. Because we truly value your input, we ask that you share with us, as soon as possible, any ideas or suggestions you have.

Once we receive your feedback, we will finish the preparation of the outline for the 2018 annual E&O seminars. During the past few weeks, we have already heard from several members who asked that we include an update on NY Regulation 500 (the NY cyber regulation), and also a review of licensing requirements for both agencies/brokerages and individuals.

The annual E&O Loss Control Seminars that are presented by Big I NY are an important part of the loss control tools the association offers its members. The annual E&O seminars presented by Big I NY are very different than those provided by other states. The key difference is that the annual seminars presented by Big I NY change every year in order to address the specific topics and issues relevant to New York insurance agents and brokers. The way Big I NY annual E&O seminars are prepared and presented truly sets the NY association and its members apart when it comes to E&O loss control education.

We encourage any Big I NY member to share any ideas or suggestions for the annual E&O Loss Control seminars. Please email me, Jim Keidel, at jkeidel@kwcllp.com with the subject line reading “2018 annual E&O seminars." We will use your input to complete the draft outline for the 2018 annual E&O seminars.

Although the seminars are still over six months away, you can mark your calendars now because the dates have already been set. The five live seminars will be held on the following dates: May 15, 2018, Islandia, NY; May 16, 2018, NYC, NY; May 17, 2018, Rye, NY; May 30, 2018, Buffalo, NY; and May 31, 2018, Syracuse, NY.

In addition to the five live seminars, a telecast seminar will be presented live from Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY on June 6, 2018 to numerous remote locations across New York State. Alternatively, you can watch the telecast seminar on your computer from the comfort of your own office or home. Both the live and telecast seminars will provide 4 continuing education credits. Registration for the 2018 annual E&O seminars will take place in the early spring after the outline has been approved by the NYDFS.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to share your thoughts regarding the annual E&O seminars. We look forward to your feedback and also seeing you at the 2018 annual E&O Loss Control Seminars.
