David R. Carothers, CIC, CRM, is the Principal of Florida Risk Partners, LLC, Catalyst Funding Solutions, LLC, The Founder of Killing Commercial Insurance Training, Host of The Power Producers Podcast, and Creator/Producer of The Protégé. David is also the international best-selling author of The Extra 2 Minutes: How spending an extra 2 minutes on nearly anything in your sales career will take you from good to best in class!  He also has a new book, The Dirty 130 hitting shelves in January 2022.  David is also the managing member of Game Changers Marketing, LLC the entity that handles the distribution of advertising and marketing across all media channels in his portfolio. 

David has degrees in Management and Marketing from Birmingham Southern College. He has spent nearly two decades in the Insurance and Risk Management space. David started his career with a multi-million dollar commercial risk management firm, where he was repeatedly recognized for exemplary achievement. 

In 2016, David followed his entrepreneurial spirit and launched Florida Risk Partners, an insurance and risk management firm focusing on middle-market commercial accounts. Florida Risk Partners has multiple office locations in the five counties surrounding the Tampa Bay region. Because of his success at Florida Risk Partners, David often gets tapped to be a keynote speaker and breakout session presenter at industry conferences and associations, speaking on sales, prospecting, marketing, appointment setting, and closing accounts. While David is busy, it is important to note that his priority is his family. David and his wife Andrea live in Valrico, FL, with their children Grayson, Landon, Ethan, Caroline, and their faithful Golden Retrievers, Tanner, and Tucker.

Executive Vice President of Public Policy for Travelers; President of The Travelers Institute

Joan Woodward is Executive Vice President of Public Policy for Travelers and President of The Travelers Institute.  She is a member of the company's Management Committee, Operating Committee, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Committee, and also serves on The Diversity Council, and the Travelers Foundation Board.

Woodward joined Travelers in 2008 from Goldman Sachs to establish The Travelers Institute as the company's thought leadership and public policy platform. Prior to her current role, Woodward worked at Goldman, Sachs & Co. for ten years, where she was the founding Executive Director of the company's Global Markets Institute, the firm's international public policy and institutional investor educational platform.   She also served as Founding Director of Washington Equity and Bond Research for Goldman Sachs' Global Investment Research where Institutional Investor magazine recognized her as a top Washington analyst for investors. 

Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Woodward worked on Capitol Hill for 12 years, as Deputy Chief of Staff for the U.S. Senate Finance Committee working for Chairman Bill Roth, where she was instrumental in creating the Roth IRA.  She also was the Chief Economist for the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee and the U.S. House Budget Committee under Chairman John Kasich. 

She serves on the Board of Directors of the United States Chamber of Commerce Foundation, is Vice Chairman of the Board of the RAND Institute for Civil Justice, and a member of the President's National Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Export Council.  Reactions Magazine named her to the Top 50 Women in Insurance, and in 2016, she was named to the Hot 100 in Insurance list by Insurance Business America Magazine.  In 2017, she received the 2017 Power Women's Leadership Award by NY Moves magazine. Woodward holds bachelor's degrees in economics and political science and a master's degree from The American University. She also studied at the University of London.

Carey Wallace

Founder of Agency Focus, LLC

Carey Wallace started her career in a technology startup and found her way into the insurance industry like many others have – by chance. She fell in love with the people, the entrepreneurial spirt, and the insurance industry as a whole.  While working for the Ohio Insurance Agents Association, Carey created valuation and consulting services as well as built and led the first data-analytics company solely focused on independent insurance agencies.  She is incredibly passionate about helping agency owners leverage data to grow and thrive in the changing insurance marketplace. Over the past 14 years, Carey has worked with hundreds of agencies helping them understand their agency's value and turn that knowledge into an actionable plan for their agency's future. Carey has a Finance degree from West Virginal University and provides a variety of consulting services through the company she founded, Agency Focus, LLC.

Partner at Masterpole Murphy Insurance Agency; 2022-2023 Chair of Big I New York

Nick is a parnter in the Masterpole Murphy Agency, Inc, a property-casualty insurance agerncy on the west side of the City of Syracuse. The agency was started by his father, Nick Masterpole Sr. in 1957.

Nick is a 1990 graduate of LeMoyne College in Syracuse. While at LeMoyne, Nick was the manager of the basketball team and played for the golf team. After graduation, Nick stayed on to be the head coach of the golf team for 14 years. Nick also stayed active in basketball. He was a high school basketball official for 30 years and a college basketball official for 25 years.

Nick is active in the local association chapter, Big I CNY. He has served on their board for more than 10 years and was the association President from 2010-2012. He currently serves as the Legislative Chair of the association and attends the annual National Legislative Conference in Washington D.C. Nick was recognized by Big I NY in 2016 and awarded the Vincent Alba Award. This award recognizes an individual who makes an outstanding contribution to Big I NY's political effectiveness.

Nick is active in his church, Saint Patrick's in Syracuse's west side. He currently serves as the parish finance chairman. Nick has been a member of the Tuscarora Golf Club in Marcellus, NY since 1991. He currently serves as the club's President. It was at LeMoyne where Nick met his wife Kim. Nick, Kim, and their daughter live in the Onondaga Hill section of Syracuse.

President & CEO of Big I New York and Big I Connecticut

Lisa Lounsbury is the President of Big I NY and Big I CT. She has responsibility for all for-profit activities, membership, overall marketing direction of the association, and has day-to-day oversight of the Association’s operations.  She has been with Big I NY since September of 1999.  Lisa also earned her CAE in 2008 and AAI in 2009. Lisa served on the IIABA Professional Liability Committee in 2005-2006.  She has served on several sub-committees for IIABA including: alternative markets sub committee, loss control working group,  minimum audit standards committee and authorized markets working group.  She was recently elected to the BIRC Board of Directors.

Prior to joining Big I NY in 1999, Lisa worked for Great American Insurance in Cincinnati, Ohio as a Product Specialist in the Specialty Division.  She started with Great American as an Agency Operations Representative for the Commercial Lines Division, developing an agency plant in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and underwriting new business. She then moved back to Great American’s home office in Cincinnati and took on the role of Implementation Coordinator for the company’s national commercial lines interface initiative. 

A native of Erie, Pennsylvania, Lisa graduated with a BS in Finance from Miami University of Ohio.  Lisa, her husband and two children reside in Cazenovia, New York. Lisa has been an active volunteer for the Central New York Division of the March of Dimes and has served as the Chairperson three times for their Signature Chefs Auction.  She currently serves on the Cazenovia Central School District Board of Education.

Steve and his wife, Karen, have two married daughters, but more importantly, seven amazing young grandchildren. They live in historic Franklin, Tennessee.

Matthew Wood

President, MetzWood Insurance

Matt is the fourth-generation owner and President of MetzWood Insurance, with offices in Chatham, Hudson & Albany. He has earned the professional designations of CPCU, CIC and CPRM. Matt currently serves as the Chairman for Travelers' National Producer Council for Personal Insurance. Additionally, he serves on the Regional Councils for Safeco and Utica National and is an active member of the Agent's Council for Technology. 

Matt earned a Bachelor's Degree from Dickinson College in Economics. While at Dickinson, he lettered all four years on the Varsity Tennis Team. Matt is also an avid golfer and is a four-time Club Champion at Columbia Golf & Country Club (only 9 behind his father's record!). In the community, he serves on the Boards of the Columbia-Greene Community College Foundation and Morris Memorial Association. Matt currently lives in Kinderhook with his wife, Annie.

Emmanuel Osuyah is owner and agency principal, Alpha Direct Agency in New York City.  He is currently a member of the Big I NY Independent Agent Technology committee and the Big I NY Inclusion Task Force.  He has also served on the Nationwide Insurance Regional and National agency councils.  He was born in Lagos, Nigeria and speaks five languages.  He earned his MBA from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan. He is active in his community and church, serving on several boards and associations.

Alexis Cierra Vaughn joined Cowbell Cyber in 2021 as the Director of Agency Marketing, where she leads agency engagement efforts, such as building loyalty and marketing engagement programs, developing association relationships, agency training, and more. Alexis is also the Producer and Host of  “The Cowbell Factors" Podcast, a show created for agents and policyholders, to help bridge the gap between the cybersecurity and cyber insurance industries, which gives listeners a better understanding of the cyber insurance marketplace, through weekly interviews with insurance and cybersecurity industry leaders. She is a 12-time award-winning 12 year insurance expert and has previous experience in sales, ranking as a Top 50 Producer as a full-service agent and successfully starting her own insurance agency of 26 single moms that she taught the business to, worth $3.1 million in premium. She also previously worked as a broker and business development leader for Mercer (A Marsh and McLennan Company), State Farm, and Country Financial, prior to transitioning into the InsurTech space with Cowbell Cyber. Alexis is currently licensed as a property and casualty producer, life and health producer, and a life and health Counselor in Georgia and Alabama. Alexis volunteers on boards in both the non-profit and professional community in various states.
