About

Nick Johnson is the Director of Technology for Big I New York, where he leads enterprise IT strategy, system modernization, digital transformation, and AI initiatives supporting independent insurance agents.

He is the author of Decision Intelligence: Why Evidence Fails and How Leaders Win the Room, a practical guide to the psychology, politics, and human-systems behind real-world decisions. Drawing on his experience in operations, data, technology, and consulting, the book explores how leaders can turn good evidence into confident action and build organizations that consistently make better decisions. Nick is also the Founder of Ataviz Consulting, a technology and AI advisory firm that helps organizations navigate IT modernization, data strategy, and artificial intelligence.

Prior to his current roles, Nick worked on government contracts supporting federal agencies including the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), delivering data analytics and automation initiatives that improved compliance, operational efficiency, and decision-making.

Nick holds a Master’s degree in Secondary Mathematics from Le Moyne College and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Binghamton University. He resides in Oswego, NY, with his wife, two children, and two dogs.
