Last year’s position paper outlines the association’s top advocacy priorities for strengthening the independent agency system and protecting New York’s insurance consumers. It reflects the voice of thousands of agents working across the state and emphasizes the industry’s critical role in New York’s economy, workforce, and communities.
Centered on highlighting key areas of legislative focus—from addressing market instability and reducing regulatory burdens to promoting fairness in tort liability, auto insurance, and property coverage. It also calls for modernization across insurance laws and greater efficiency within state oversight. With a strong foundation in grassroots engagement and member-driven input, the position paper serves as a roadmap for positive, actionable change in the year ahead.
