Join fellow independent agents from across New York State for Big I NY's Virtual Independent Agents Advocacy Week. 

During the week of February 27th to March 3rd, Big I NY is scheduling dozens of virtual meetings with key lawmakers to urge them to follow the Governor's lead and pass photo inspection reform as part of the state budget. We need agents to join these meetings and share their experiences! This is your opportunity to get hands on, stand up for your customers and your agency, and be a part of something big - all from your desk.

SCHEDULE:

February 27th, 9:00am-10:00am: Kickoff session featuring welcome remarks from NYS lawmakers, issue briefing and lobbying training. This session will be recorded for those unable to join.

February 27th-March 3rd - Virtual Legislative Meetings: Big I NY will lead virtual meetings between elected officials and member agents to discuss our legislative priorities.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

What do I need to commit to? All participants should plan to join the briefing session on 2/27 at 9:00 am. In this session you will learn talking points and tips for successful lobbying meetings. This meeting will be recorded. Additionally, you should plan to attend between two and five 30-minute legislative meetings during the week. 

What will the meetings be like? Once registered, you will receive meeting invites for legislative meetings as they are confirmed. Big I NY is scheduling all meetings. These will be zoom meetings with state lawmakers and/or their staff, typically lasting 30 minutes or less. A Big NY staff member or lobbyist will lead each meeting and guide the discussion. You will have the opportunity to share your experiences with CARCO inspections, and how they affect your customers.

Which lawmakers will I be meeting with? Generally, you will be invited to meetings with lawmakers in your geographic region. In order to be most effective, we are focusing on meetings with lawmakers who sit on the committees responsible for budget legislation. Therefore, you may not meet with your own lawmaker. 

What if I can't attend all the meetings? Simply let us know which meetings you can attend and which you cannot. Often meetings are confirmed or changed last minute due to the chaotic nature of legislative session and lawmakers' busy schedules. We understand you are busy too!

I'm not an expert on politics or legislation, should I still participate? Absolutely! You don't need to know anything about politics, just talk about what you know best - your business and your customers. 

The registration mentions a $49 PAC contribution...Do I need to pay for this event? No, it is free! However, we highly encourage you to make a voluntary contribution to our political action committee. It helps us be more effective fighting for you and your customers!
