An Answer for Two of Your Biggest Concerns

InVEST_header_sm.jpg

Two of the most common issues we hear from members?

  • Lack of qualified candidates for the numerous positions open due to baby boomers retiring
  • The image of the insurance industry and misconceptions around it
At IIABNY, we are often asked what can be done, and more specifically what we are doing about this. Our answer? InVEST.

InVEST is a program that is designed to educate high school and college students about insurance and the wide variety of careers in the industry. In fact, that’s their mission:

Our mission is to improve insurance literacy in students and
attract new talent to the industry.”

Through a hands-on education approach with a variety of lessons, students get an idea of what the insurance industry really is—a rewarding and lucrative profession that allows individuals to make a difference. With the help of InVEST liaisons (insurance professionals like you), students have the opportunity to participate in job shadow days, internships or even careers after graduating.

InVEST provides all materials necessary to launch a program. The curriculum is specifically created to appeal to the millennial generation and includes lesson plans, textbooks, activities and more. The best part? It's totally free. So, how can you help?
  • Be a Guest Speaker
  • Start a Program (become a liaison)
  • Attend a Career Day
  • Start an Internship Program
  • Hire an INVEST graduate
  • Donate
To learn more about the programs already in place in New York State and/or how to get involved, visit our InVEST webpage and contact Mary Byrnes, Education & Research Project Manager at 800.962.7950 x215.
